Homestay with the University of Tasmania
For over 20 years the University of Tasmania has offered Homestay as an accommodation option. The Homestay Program has recently opened its doors to the wider University community and continues to be managed in-house by a dedicated team of professionals.
We believe Homestay is about a cultural experience, both for the student and Homestay Host family. Homestay provides more than just a roof over someone's head - it really is about bringing the global community together at a common table.
Homestay is now a successful accommodation option for University students and visitors, including:
- Domestic and international students
- English Language Centre (ELC) students (studying English prior to a degree)
- Study tour students (4-5 week intensive programs)
- Exchange/study abroad students
- Undergraduate and postgraduate students
- Visiting researchers and academics
- Medical placement/internship students
- Under-18 international students
Whatever your style, we will make a concerted effort to match you with a Homestay that fits with your needs.
My host was the perfect host for me and my situation. She understood my need for study, the house was quiet, yet we had many enjoyable discussions about our different fields of research, and different university experiences. The location was convenient for access to the University and the Archives. Thank you to the Homestay Coordinator for suggesting Homestay. I will be returning to Hobart for further research, and would definitely like to use Homestay again.
On behalf of the entire family, I'd like thank you very much for facilitating a homestay family for our son during his recent Deakin University arranged work-placement at the Royal Hobart Hospital. To know that he was billeted to a lovely family gave us all a sense of confidence and allowed us to sleep a little easier. I couldn't speak more highly of the service you provided, in particular, your consideration of our son's best interests.
My hosts were exceptional and I enjoyed my time in their home, with their family. My experience went beyond anything I could have wanted. My hosts offered modifications to accommodate my needs, considered my dietary needs for meals, and took time to show me Tasmania. They supported me in my placement at the RHH and I could not have asked for a better homestay. This was not just ‘accommodation’, but a very enriching experience!
Although our homestay experience was unique, it ended well because my roommate and I ended up travelling for months in Fiji, East Coast Australia, New Zealand, and the Great Ocean Road. Just wanted to thank you again for pairing us up as roommates!
