AMC Seafaring/Industry Courses
The Australian Maritime College (AMC) is an institute of the University of Tasmania. The AMC specialises in maritime training and caters for those individuals who wish to work or are already working in the maritime industry.
The AMC provides training in two specific streams:
- degree/bachelor courses – which include undergraduate or post graduate degrees, and
- Seafaring/industry courses – which include ocean and seafaring courses classed as Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas, Certificates and Pre vocational. (Vocational courses include Deck Watchkeeper, Mate/Masters)
If you are studying within the seafaring or industry stream at the Newnham campus you will need to book you place in accommodation by phoning (03) 6324 3916 (within Australia) or 61 3 6324 3916 (internationally) or by emailing enquiries@accommodation.utas.edu.au. Please do not apply through the on-line portal. Current Industry fees can be viewed on our fees and charges page. If you are company sponsored (i.e. your company is paying your residential fees and meal costs) please provide your company contact details when making your booking.
If you are not company sponsored you will need to pay a $250 security deposit and two weeks rent prior to arrival. Rent is due fortnightly – you can arrange for a direct debit or pay via BPay or in person at the administration office at Newnham. Stays for up to five weeks need to be paid for upfront prior to arrival.
When we confirm your booking via email we will attach a copy of the Accommodation Services Residency Agreement. This agreement outlines the terms and conditions of your stay in residence – please take the time to read this document as you will be asked to sign it prior to taking up residency.
