Checking In
The majority of new residents arrive at Accommodation Services on the Sunday before Orientation week – the start date of your contract. If you expect to arrive before this date you will need to advise Accommodation Services ahead of time so that we can let you know if your room will be available.
Accommodation Services ensures that there are additional staff members available at peak times during the semester – arrival days and check out days. Upon arrival you should be able to pick up your room key from the Accommodation Office. We will provide you with either directions (including a site map) or an escort to help you to find your room.
If you are arriving during office hours on a weekday, you can report directly to the Accommodation Services office. Office hours are 8:30am to 5:00pm.
If you are arriving on a weekend or after hours, you will need to contact the after-hours support staff, on duty after 5:00pm. In Hobart you can report directly to the Accommodation Services office: there is a help phone located outside the office. Press the button for assistance and your call will be answered by a staff member who will then meet you. In Launceston there are help points located at the main entrance of each residence site. Press the button marked Residential assistance and your call will be answered by a staff member who will meet you on site.
Check in closes at 10:00pm.
Accommodation Services generally issues a 'Welcome' newsletter, and all residents are provided with a 'welcome pack' on arrival, which we hope will answer your many questions about arriving at Accommodation Services and what to do when you get here.
Please read it thoroughly. If you don't understand or have any further questions about its contents please ask our administration staff who will be pleased to assist.
Accommodation Services will run several induction sessions for new residents which include a tour of the facilities – details of these sessions will be forwarded to you prior to your arrival. Although not compulsory these sessions are strongly recommended.
Inventory
When you first arrive, you need to complete an inventory evaluation. Information about the inventory process will be provided to you when you check in. If you have any questions or concerns about the condition of your room or its equipment please contact the office as soon as possible.
